The West Mill in Derby Wedding Photographer – Ellie and George’s Wedding

Well, what a year it’s been so far, none of us could have predicted what was going to happen this year due to Covid-19 and I know a lot of photographers and vendors who have certainly struggled with most wedding couples moving their weddings to future dates or cancelling altogether! Fortunately for me Ellie and George’s wedding still went ahead and it was one that I’d looked forward to since they booked with me after I photographed her sisters wedding a few years back.

Due to the Coronavirus on the increase, the wedding was limited to just 15 people excluding staff so this wedding had lots of safety precautions and restrictions put in place with social distancing inside the venue and masks to be worn unless you were exempt.

Even so, it was such a beautiful wedding and the restrictions certainly didn’t put a dampener on the day, the weather was perfect all day and the happy couple couldn’t stop smiling and laughing throughout.

The West Mill in Derby makes for a superb place to get married and is certainly a different type of venue with its industrial looks but this suits my photography style down to a tee. Outside the main building is very impressive, there’s a fantastic river which makes a great backdrop and a place for wedding guests to relax and socialise and inside there’s a choice of different floors you can use and really bring different and creative lighting into use.

I photographed Ellie and George’s wedding from the morning with the guys getting ready all the way through till the evening where unfortunately we couldn’t get any speeches or first dance/party photos due to the restrictions but still managed to get a sparkler walkout photos and creative shots inside the venue when the sun had set.

I had an amazing time at their wedding and have added a small selection of my personal favourites from their day below.
