The Limes Country Lodge Hotel Wedding Photography – Alicia & Simon
What an incredible wedding this was. From perfect weather to a horse-drawn carriage and some truly unique traditions, Alicia and Simon’s day had everything you could want from a wedding.
The Limes Country Lodge Hotel in Earlswood is a fantastic venue and one I always enjoy photographing. With over six acres of grounds available, it really is a wedding photographer’s paradise. Everywhere you turn, there’s another ideal spot for photos—whether that’s relaxed couple portraits, group shots, or natural candid moments throughout the day.
A Beautiful Ceremony at St Mary Magdalene Church
The ceremony took place at St Mary Magdalene Church in Tanworth-in-Arden, a venue I’ve photographed at before and one that always delivers. It’s a beautiful church both inside and out, offering a timeless setting for a wedding ceremony.
The morning preparations were split between locations. Alicia and her bridesmaids got ready at The Limes Country Lodge Hotel, where the reception would later be held, while Simon and his groomsmen prepared at home.
A Grand Arrival – Horse-Drawn Carriage
One of the standout elements of the day was Alicia’s arrival at the church. She travelled with her dad in a stunning horse-drawn carriage, while guests arrived by coach and the bridesmaids in a silver limo.
It’s these kinds of touches that add something extra to a wedding day—not just visually, but in terms of the overall experience.
Unique Traditions and Unforgettable Moments
After the ceremony, Alicia and Simon were greeted by something a little different—a traditional chimney sweep.
This is said to bring good luck, with the tradition dating back around 200 years to the time of King George II, when a London chimney sweep reportedly saved his life. Whether you believe in the tradition or not, it certainly made for some memorable and unique photographs.
They also organised a dove release—something I hadn’t photographed before. It added another special moment to the day and created some fantastic photo opportunities just outside the church.
Back to The Limes Country Lodge Hotel
Following the ceremony, Alicia and Simon made their way back to The Limes Country Lodge Hotel in their horse-drawn carriage.
Once we arrived, I quickly organised the group photos. I always aim to keep this part of the day as efficient as possible—no one wants to spend too long away from their guests, especially when the celebrations are in full swing.
With the formalities done, everyone could relax and enjoy the rest of the day.
A Wedding Photographer’s Dream Venue
The Limes Country Lodge Hotel really does offer everything you need for great wedding photography:
Extensive grounds with a variety of backdrops
Natural, open spaces perfect for relaxed portraits
A convenient layout for smooth transitions throughout the day
Plenty of opportunities for both candid and styled shots
It’s a venue that gives you flexibility, which is key to capturing a full and varied wedding gallery.
