Bodybuilder Photography Birmingham

I recently had an awesome photoshoot with Claire, a female bodybuilder from Birmingham who wanted some photos for her portfolio which were more creative than the usual bodybuilding photos you see online where the photos are normally taken in the gym. This was music to my ears as I love these types of photoshoots and I knew exactly where I wanted to go to Birmingham for the photos. So the date was set and the weather seemed like it was going to be kind to us on the day, so we arranged to meet in Digbeth in Birmingham as I know the area well and love how many places there are there to photograph without going too far. I was lucky enough to have my good friend and excellent photographer Jon from Heart Wedding Photography to assist me with my lighting and ideas. I cannot tell you how useful it is having another professional photographer who knows where to place the light at any given time is. It means I can concentrate more on my composition, angles and interaction with Claire the model.

I chose to photograph at what I feel is the best time of the day the golden hour. This meant we had a great source of directional light for some natural light photos but could easily overpower the sun when needed with my Godox AD200 flashes. Using only a 100 yards car park area we managed to get some really creative photos and ones that stand out from the crowd which is exactly what Claire wanted. As the light fell we moved slightly further around the Digbeth area but there was so much to use in one location we didn’t need to travel far to get the photos we needed.
