Fawsley Hall Hotel Wedding Photography – Cat and Dom

This isn’t the first time I’ve photographed a wedding at the fantastic Fawsley Hall Hotel in Northhampton, but I’ve never photographed a wedding here in December where the hotel is beautifully decorated with Christmas lights and Christmas trees dotted around the hotel. This amazing building not only dates back to the 1400s and boasts elegant rooms that are individually decorated with traditional and contemporary furnishings, but also has 4-poster beds, fireplaces, antiques and exposed stone walls. It’s such a romantic venue that I love working at and caters for small or large weddings and can even hold 150 wedding guests at one time!

Fawsley Hall Hotel Wedding Photography

I met up with Dom at his house to get some quick getting ready photos before his wedding car was due to pick him up to take him to Fawsley Hall Hotel, or so he thought. Cat had actually arranged for the car to take him to his parent’s house where he would be getting picked up by a helicopter to finish the journey! This is something he had no clue about and it had been kept a very closely guarded secret.

We were definitely lucky with the weather on the day considering it was a wedding in December in the UK –  it was a chilly but sunny morning with weather reports suggesting it will stay like this for most of the day.

I met up with Cat and her bridesmaids as they were all having their hair and makeup done, I had to juggle getting photos of the bride and bridesmaids getting ready photos as well as Dom and his best man appearing by helicopter, but the timings couldn’t have worked out any better.

Cat had chosen this very beautiful and unique wedding dress as well as jewellery to suit. She looked stunning and when she revealed her final look to her mum and bridesmaids you can see their reactions and it’s one of my favourite documentary wedding photos from their day.

Fawsley Hall Hotel – Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony room at Fawsley Hall Hotel is just fantastic with chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, Christmas decorations throughout and lots of natural light flooding the room. Dom and his groomsmen looked great in their top hat and tails as they waited for Cat’s grand entrance and I could see Dom looking slightly nervous. As you can see from the photos Dom was blown away when he saw his beautiful wife to be walking down the aisle. After all the legalities of the ceremony had taken place it was time to move onto the drinks reception and formal photos. We did the group photos outside while we still had great light and used the amazing interior of Fawsley Hall Hotel to photograph Cat and Dom with creative lighting which really suited the theme and style of their wedding.

We managed to get some time in the evening to do some more photos of Cat and Dom together and it meant I could get some shots that wouldn’t have been possible without the professional type of lighting I carry around with me. We had to work quickly as it had started to get cold but the results were definitely worth it. I did some test shots beforehand so I knew the shots would work and it would mean Cat and Dom wouldn’t get too cold.

Then it was time for the guests to let their hair down and throw some shapes on the dance floor, this is the time I like to get on the dance floor myself with my cameras and really try and show the atmosphere of the evening party.
