Why I Love This Image – Charlene & Stephen at Ardencote Manor Hotel

A Joyful Evening Moment at Ardencote Manor

Some wedding photographs instantly take you back to how the day felt.

This is one of those images.

Captured during Charlene and Stephen’s wedding at Ardencote Manor Hotel in Warwickshire, this evening portrait is all about celebration. The formalities of the day were done, guests were relaxed, music was playing inside — and the couple were fully in the moment.

They stepped outside for just a few minutes and created something completely spontaneous. Champagne bottles in hand, laughter already building, and then… chaos in the best possible way.

What followed was a burst of energy that turned into one of my favourite images from their wedding.

Natural Energy and Real Personality

What I love most about this photograph is how true it feels to Charlene and Stephen.

There’s no stiffness. No over-direction. No sense of performance.

Instead, there’s genuine excitement and a willingness to simply enjoy the experience. Charlene’s expression says everything — joy, surprise and total commitment to the moment. Stephen matches that energy perfectly, creating balance and movement across the frame.

This kind of photograph happens when couples trust the process and allow themselves to relax.

It’s also why evening portraits can be so powerful. By this stage of the wedding day, nerves have gone and personalities really start to shine through.

Creative Night Wedding Photography

From a photography perspective, this image is all about light and timing.

The warm glow from the venue behind them creates depth and atmosphere, while carefully placed off-camera lighting catches the champagne spray and turns it into thousands of sparkling highlights. The result feels cinematic without being forced — dramatic but still very natural.

Ardencote Manor is particularly good for this type of evening photography. The entrance lighting, textured surroundings and open space make it ideal for creating striking night portraits without needing long setups or complicated planning.

Sometimes the best images come from giving couples a simple idea and letting the moment unfold.

Why Evening Portraits Matter

Many couples assume all their important photos happen earlier in the day. In reality, stepping outside for just five or ten minutes in the evening can produce some of the most memorable images of the entire wedding.

The atmosphere is different. The pace is slower. The emotion is bigger.

At venues across Warwickshire, Birmingham and the wider Midlands, these short creative sessions often lead to photographs that feel more personal, more expressive and more reflective of the celebration itself.

Charlene and Stephen fully embraced that — and this image is the result.
